Community Development Award Winners recognized by LISC

At its recent 20th Anniversary celebration, LISC or Local Initiatives Support Corporation Jacksonville announced five Community Development Award winners during its most recent event at TIAA Bank Field’s East Club, Feb. 20.

Community Development Award Winners recognized by LISC
Igniter Award: Hope McMath, Yellow House Gallery of Art The Igniter Award, sponsored by the Gate Foundation, recognizes an individual who has served as the catalyst for urban neighborhood revitalization. Hope McMath was recognized for her pioneering work in connecting art and community through the creation and development of the Yellow House Gallery of Art located in North Riverside’s CoRK Arts District.
Community Development Award Winners recognized by LISC
Building Block Award: Vestcor Companies The Building Block Award, sponsored by Danis Construction, recognizes a real estate project that advances an urban core community, and was awarded to Vestcor Companies for serving as a leader in the development and construction of multi-income, multi-family workforce housing in Jacksonville’s historic LaVilla neighborhood. To date, Vestcor has completed three multi-family developments with more in the planning stages. All units, when completed, are close to public transportation.

Power of Community Award (Collective Impact): Arlington 20|20 The Power of Community Award, sponsored by Bank of America, recognizes entities that have provided collaboration and leadership in bringing together diverse voices to improve the community through targeted programs, initiatives or physical development. Arlington 20|20 was honored for its pivotal role in assembling a collaborative partnership of more than 20 organizations to create and implement a comprehensive revitalization vision for Arlington neighborhoods.
